Professor Galanis has been a member of the Faculty of the Hellenic Naval Academy (HNA) since 1998, has held the rank of Full Professor since 2018, and has served as Director of the Section of Mathematics of HNA since 2016. He is also a Visiting Professor at the Naval Ocean and Prediction Laboratory, Naval Postgraduate School.

He graduated from the Department of Mathematics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 1990, where he also earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics in 1995. His research interests focus on Mathematical Modelling, Risk Analysis and Quantification, Information Geometry, and Simulation Optimization Methods.

Professor Galanis is the author of more than 70 scientific papers published in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals and has presented more than 120 scientific contributions at international scientific conferences. His research work has received more than 3,500 citations in the international scientific literature.

He has participated, either as Principal Investigator or Researcher, in 19 European and national research projects related to his research fields, funded through national and international resources.

He has supervised or co-supervised 7 doctoral dissertations and more than 50 postgraduate theses.

Professor Galanis was a member of the academic team that designed the postgraduate programme entitled “Marine Science & Technology Management,” jointly organized by the Hellenic Naval Academy and the University of Piraeus. Since the programme’s establishment, he has served as a member of the Inter-Institutional Special Committee responsible for its administration, as well as Deputy Director of the programme.
