The Physical Sciences Sector contributes to the objectives of the HNA Department of Naval Sciences via educational and research activities in appropriate areas of physical sciences with direct or indirect importance for the Hellenic Navy.

The following teaching and/or research topics are supported by the Sector:

A. General and Applied Physics:

  • Quantum Physics of Radiation
  • Elementary Particles and Cosmic Physics
  • Emission, Propagation and Detection of Thermal and non-Thermal Radiation
  • Infrared and Ultraviolet Physics
  • Applied Optics of Imaging and Spectroscopy Instruments
  • Naval Electro-optics and Optical Signal Processing
  • Instrumentation
  • Special Topics on Theoretical and Applied Physics with aim to existing and emerging Naval and Defence Technology

  • Rigid Body Mechanics
  • Statics – Kinematics - Dynamics
  • Theoretical – Experimental Mechanics. Biomechanics.
